Roberto Therón studied Informatics at the University of Salamanca and the University of La Coruña (Undergraduate). Member of the Research Group in Robotics from the University of Salamanca, presented a thesis on, “Parallel calculus of the configurations space for redundant robots" that was awarded the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. After that, he became licensed in Audiovisual Communication and Humanities from the University of Salamanca.
He performed his research work at this same institution, directing the VisUsal group (within the GRIAL research group), which centers around approaches coming from informatics, statistic, graphic design and information visualization for obtaining an adequate understanding of complex data sets. These last years, he has dedicated himself to the development of advanced visualization tools for multidimensional data such as genetic or paleoclimate data. In the area of visual analytics, he develops fruitful collaboration with groups and institutions with international prestige, such as the Climate Sciences An Environmental Laboratory (Paris) or the Visual Analytics Center for the UN (Switzerland). He is an author of more than 70 articles in journals and international conferences.

She centers her recent investigations in the relation between media and social and political systems responsible for the inequality, and/or as agents for social and political change; she also studies the value of the construction of new references starting from university studies with a gender perspective, especially within communication studies.
She is a collaborator in several projects with the CICOM, Investigation Center in Communication of the University of Costa Rica, on Feminism and Communication. She is also director of the History and Social Communication journal and is part of the advising council of other scientific publications. Nowadays, she acts as delegate of the Principal for equality and is responsible for the Equality Unit of the Complutense University of Madrid. She has been Deputy Principal of Culture, Sport and Social Policy, and Deputy Director of Extension and Broadcasting of Culture of the UCM, besides being a member of the Government Council.
